Downtown Vancouver is set to buzz with creativity and community spirit as The Crossing Pop-Up @ 130 West Hastings Street launches a four-weekend series of dynamic events. Organized by the Hastings Crossing Business Improvement Association (HxBIA), this initiative spotlights local talent, featuring art exhibitions, live performances, markets, and workshops celebrating the Downtown Eastside’s richness.

Running from November 29 through December 22, the pop-up will offer something new every weekend, with a rotating lineup of hosts ensuring a unique experience for every visitor. Whether you’re an art lover, a music enthusiast, or simply looking for an inspiring way to spend the weekend, this event promises to deliver.

What’s Happening Each Weekend?

Weekend 1: Art and Alchemy
November 29 – December 1

  • Friday: 7 PM – 10 PM
  • Saturday: 12 PM – 3 PM and 7 PM – 11 PM
  • Sunday: 1 PM – 5 PM

The series begins with Art and Alchemy, a celebration of BIPOC artists and collectives. The weekend includes live instrumental performances, mindfulness and tea workshops, open mic sessions, and a vibrant vendor market where you can connect with the creative spirit of the Downtown Eastside.

Weekend 2: Club Soda Sober Events and Art Collective
December 6 – December 8

  • Friday: 7:30 PM – 10 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday: 12 PM – 10:30 PM

The second weekend features Club Soda Sober Events, known for hosting alcohol-free gatherings that foster inclusive, welcoming environments. Expect a rich lineup of poetry readings, zine-making workshops, stand-up comedy, and performance art, all designed to create meaningful connections and a safe space for artistic expression.

Weekends 3 & 4: The Gallery George Holiday Markets
December 13 – December 14 and December 21 – December 22

  • Saturday (Dec 13 & 21): 12 PM – 8 PM
  • Sunday (Dec 14 & 22): 12 PM – 6 PM

The final two weekends feature The Gallery George’s curated Holiday Markets, highlighting local established and emerging artists. These markets include unique creations from women associated with the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, offering a chance to shop for distinctive holiday gifts while supporting a meaningful cause.
